Teaching is more than a profession—it is a calling.

During my years in the classroom, I have seen how much students need more than academic instruction. I once had a student named Johnny whose birthday was forgotten at home. When he came to school the next day, his tears reminded me that for many children, school is where they feel seen, valued, and loved. Moments like this reveal how important a teacher’s role truly is.

Yaniris de la Cruz Martinez has worked as a teacher with New Missions for seven years.

Teacher Reyna Vargas Silverio teaches her students to trust in God to always take care of them.

Take a peek at our morning group time in our kindergarten class at Colegio Nueva Vida.

We are committed to finding excellent Christian teachers who will not only educate, but also nurture and guide their students with compassion and love. Two such teachers are Yaniris de la Cruz Martinez and Reyna Vargas Silverio, who serve at our school in Bombita. Yaniris, who has been with us for seven years, shares that teaching means “leaving a lasting impact, with the responsibility of positively influencing students’ lives, instilling values, and helping to contribute to a better future through education.” Reyna, who has served for twelve years says, “I motivate my students by telling them that they should always strive and never stop believing in themselves. Life presents difficult challenges, but God will never abandon them.”  Their influence reaches far beyond the classroom, shaping lives and building hope for the future. ~Heather Williams Katz
