Faith Through Education
// Heather Williams Katz
At New Missions, we believe education is most powerful when it is centered on Christ.
This year, we are excited to take new steps in sharing the Gospel with our students through two important initiatives. First, we are introducing a Christian Spanish curriculum. Until now, no such resources were available in the Dominican Republic. Through our partnership with the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), we discovered a publisher in Mexico providing high-quality, faith-based materials. Starting this year, our first through third graders at Colegio Nueva Vida will be learning from these books as part of a pilot program.
Our high school students are enjoying learning more about the Bible and how to defend their faith.
Second, we have launched an apologetics class in our high school for our tenth through twelfth graders. I have the joy of teaching this course, which aims to equip students to understand why they can trust Scripture and how to defend their faith with confidence. We are grateful for these opportunities and ask for your prayers as we implement these programs. Our prayer is that each student not only grows academically, but also comes to know and follow Christ more deeply. ~Heather Williams Katz
