A recent estimate suggests there may be as many as 350 former New Missions students living in France from the village of Neply alone.

Many are actively involved in local churches, serving as salt and light in their communities.

One of these individuals is Johnny Fontaine, the son of Pastor Guy who is Charlie DeTellis’ assistant in Haiti. Johnny’s family moved from Port-au-Prince to Neply just as he entered high school. After graduating from New Missions, he continued his education at university in Port-au-Prince, studying Administrative Science.

Johnny Fontaine, a New Missions graduate, preaches and teaches in two churches in France.

During his university years, Johnny taught classes at the New Missions high school and later served as pastor of our Bord-Mer church from 2007 to 2010. In 2010, he and his wife, Mirtha, moved to France.

Johnny is grateful for the training he received at New Missions, including learning English. Today, he works a secular job while preaching and teaching in both a French-speaking church and a Spanish-speaking church.

We are so thankful to see the fruit of New Missions work not only in Haiti but in the lives of Johnny and others serving in France. ~Rachel DeTellis
