Empty My Bowl
// Tim DeTellis
Delivering food to our schools is like bringing help and hope in a bowl.
Whenever we receive a food delivery to our warehouse, the next day we begin to empty the warehouse–distributing the food to all of the school locations. The process is rather simple. Fill the warehouse, empty the warehouse; fill the bowl, then empty the bowl.
The students from L’Acul, Haiti, line up to enjoy a lunch prepared for them.
Hunger is something that the children in Haiti at New Missions say goodbye to because of school lunches. The process of sourcing food for the quantity required for our schools takes a great amount of logistics and scheduling. Recently, we received 1,440 sacks of rice by way of a cargo container. Beans and cooking oil were also delivered to our mission warehouse on the back of a dump truck. Then, our school directors arrived with individual trucks and cars to transport a two-month supply of food to each of our school campuses. The lunch is cooked on location by Haitian cooks and our school children use stainless steel bowls to enjoy lunch at school.
A dump truck was used to transport beans and cooking oil to our warehouse.
A tractor trailer arrived at our warehouse to deliver food for our schools in Haiti.
When you sponsor a child or give to our “Feeding Families” fund, you help us purchase food and equip our schools to be places of hope and help when hunger strikes. The power of consistently delivering food is a beacon of hope to the children and families we serve. Thank you for your love and support. ~Tim DeTellis
