Carnise Durverglas, who goes by her nickname Marie Yves, attended the revival service at Eglise de Dieu de la Dernière in Mariani, Terre Force, Leogane, Haiti.

With arms raised, she exemplified the words on her shirt: Blessed. For any pastor or any church, the joy of seeing others follow Jesus is a sign of a healthy church fulfilling its purpose. The pastor’s calling is not to find followers for themselves or even for the church. The pastor’s calling is to disciple passionate followers of Jesus.

Carnise Durverglas, a former student at New Missions, is a passionate follower of Jesus.

Pastor Sheguer Marc was excited to send photos to me of the revival service at his church where Marie Yves is a member. I was thankful to see the faces of people worshipping and growing in their faith. Why? Because Pastor Sheguer is a disciple making disciples. He grew up at New Missions, graduated from our Bible college, planted a church, and is now discipling the next generation. We sponsor him as a pastor and church planter in Haiti.

Pastors such as Sheguer Marc are praying for God to raise up passionate followers of Jesus.

Pastor Louis Panel from Bire desires to make disciples, and led a group of Haitians on a mission trip to Port-Salut, Haiti.

Together, we are making disciples because discipleship is the true measurement of success. Our goal is making followers of Jesus and the pathway of discipleship begins with relationships surrounded by God’s Word. Our pastors are shepherds—walking alongside the people from their community. Let’s remember our pastors and churches in our prayers as we are making disciples who will be able to teach others also. ~Tim DeTellis
