Advancing in Faith
// Heather Williams Katz
We recently held our second annual New Missions retreat in the Dominican Republic.
Adults, teenagers, and children from our churches and schools traveled by bus to a beautiful camp located just outside of Sosua. It was a peaceful setting where everyone could spend the day enjoying fellowship, playing games, and learning more about God’s Word. Approximately 130 people attended, and the day was meaningful for everyone.
Attendees participate in a game planned during the second annual New Missions retreat held in Sosua, Dominican Republic.
The purpose of these retreats is to dive into topics that matter deeply to our faith. This year, we focused on a powerful section of the Sermon on the Mount (found in Matthew 6:1-18) which explores giving, praying, and fasting. Through teaching sessions and small group discussions, both teens and adults were able to dig into the passage and discover how it speaks to our lives today. We plan to host these retreats one to two times per year—creating space for our church members and mission employees to grow closer to each other and closer to God through His Word. Please continue to pray for our pastors and church leaders as they disciple their church members to further grow in their faith. ~Heather Williams Katz
