Youth Serving Others
// Heather Williams Katz
One of our goals in youth ministry is to teach students what it means to love and serve others.
We help do this each year by taking them on a short-term mission trip. Last December, our youth traveled to a poor farming community in the mountains where we had the privilege of serving alongside a local pastor and his church for the second time.
Our youth led Bible classes, crafts, and games for children in a poor farming community in the mountains.
During the trip, our students led two days of VBS-style activities they had planned for the children, including Bible lessons and games. They also helped plan and host a church service for the community. The pastor, church members, and families warmly welcomed us, and the children greatly enjoyed the activities. It was a meaningful opportunity for our youth to step up, lead, and serve others with confidence.
At the end of the children’s program, each child received a shoebox gift as a blessing. We are grateful for opportunities such as this that help our youth grow in their faith through serving others. Please continue to pray for our students as they grow in Christ, and for our youth leaders as they guide them on this important journey. ~Heather Williams Katz
