Do you remember when you were a child and you received a new pair of sneakers? What was it like the first few days?

You would wipe off the dirt and keep them as clean as possible. Having new sneakers for school was a special time, and we want to do the same for our students.

When I take photos of our students, I am thankful to see them in their school uniforms and many proudly wear their student ID cards. Often, I will look closely at their skin and hair to make sure they appear healthy. Then, I glance down to the ground to snap a view of their feet. What are they wearing? What’s the condition of their shoes?

Surprisingly, I have students tell me how they share a pair of sneakers with a younger sibling, as it may be the only pair they have. We can step in and help out by collecting sneakers for students.
