In an effort to raise up more Christian leaders in our high school, we recently started a Christian student leadership group called Leaders for Christ.

We meet weekly with the students throughout the school year, where they learn about qualities of a successful Christian leader. They also get to hear many special guest speakers.

This summer, we were able to take the group on a mission trip to Jimani to work with John and Melissa Hanley, who are missionaries there and run a children’s home. During our time there, we hosted VBS for kids in the children’s home and children from the community also attended. All of the students participated in a church service that was led by them and were involved in a youth game night for the community. This was a wonderful chance for the students to learn more about serving and leading. The students were deeply touched by how happy and loving the children are who live in the children’s home. We look forward to seeing how God will use the experiences from this trip to impact the students’ lives and help them become more emboldened to share God’s love with other students in their school and community. ~Heather Williams Katz
