When carrying out mission work, we often seek long-term solutions to help the people we serve. Spiritual darkness. Poverty. Illiteracy. Unemployment. Disease.

Since 1983, we have pursued Christ-centric solutions to these big problems facing the poorest of the poor in the Western Hemisphere.

Right now, we have nearly 2,000 students without sponsors. The children who need us so much are those without fathers present in their home. God has sent us to stand in the gap.

I once sat across the room from Pastor Rick Warren. As we went around the room introducing ourselves I said, “My name is Tim DeTellis and I serve with New Missions.” Pastor Rick spoke up and said, “And you know what it looks like to be the father to the fatherless.” His comment was encouraging—but it applies to each of us. Who has God sent us to serve?

“A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling.” (Psalm 68:5) May we stop and ponder how we can serve these mothers and their families. Because of you, we can continue to help children grow out of poverty and step away from illiteracy, find employment, conquer sickness, and find new life in Christ. While not everyone may choose to sponsor a child, we have established the “Life of a Child” fund—to provide the resources necessary to continue caring for these unsponsored children. Your gift of any amount will make a difference. ~Tim DeTellis
