Tim DeTellis Biography

Tim DeTellis
Tim DeTellis serves as president of New Missions, a non-profit organization based in Orlando, Fla. which provides education, medical care, food and church planting in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Founded by Tim’s parents, Pastor George and Jeanne DeTellis, nearly 28 years ago, New Missions now has over 11,000 students in school from pre-school through high school, and more than 500 Haitian staff members. In 2006, Tim assumed presidency of New Missions with a passion to carry on the legacy of his parents.
Tim’s oversight of New Missions also includes Laugh All Night—a Christian stand-up comedy event that allows U.S. churches to offer a safe and entertaining event while providing international missions awareness and child sponsorship opportunities. Tim’s heart is to help churches reach their communities, and he believes Christian comedy is a powerful tool.
From the age of 11 until he went away to college, Tim lived with his parents in Haiti—the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. He helped plant churches and organize evangelism teams with outdoor services in villages. They attracted crowds with a Haitian band, and then a pastor would share the Gospel message.
After returning to the states and graduating college, Tim moved to Orlando where he was heavily involved in organizing a city-wide singles outreach event called Orlando Metro. The event drew nearly 800 people every week for live music and a Christian message. Tim played keyboard in the band.
Tim is an accomplished pianist having recorded five instrumental CDs. He has led music worship at various churches, is author of books such as The Power of One and Haiti: Past, Present and Future—and also speaks nationwide. One of his passions is supporting the efforts of crisis pregnancy centers and the right to life. Tim speaks at churches, colleges, organizations and Christian events across the United States on the topics of Living Out Your Best Life Every Day, Your Mission Field is Right Where You Are, The Power of One and The Power of a Dream. He has also consulted with such companies as SYSCO Foods, Universal Studios, AMC Theatres, KINKO’S, Fiserv and Westgate Resorts on teamwork, leadership and corporate culture.
Tim is a graduate of the communication and business program from Houghton College in Western New York State. In 2005, he was ordained by East Orlando Baptist Church. Tim is married, has two children and resides in Orlando.
